Well first off, my name is Melissa and I'm 21 years old. I attend Cal Poly University on the beautiful central coast of California. I plan on graduating this June! I'm getting my business degree, with a concentration in finance and will be moving to the bay area in august to start work as a finance associate at Apple!

I've grown up in California my whole and am a huge beach bum; I try to make it the beach at least 2x a week once it gets warm... tough life i know ;) I love snowboarding, horseback riding (jumpers) and anything outdoors. I have a huge passion for fitness and nutrition, but have changed my viewpoint on a lot of things over the years.

Throughout high school I was always active, mainly through competitive swimming, horseback riding and the gym. Once college started I began noticing some pounds creeping on. My answer was to limit myself to 1200 calories a day and do endless amounts of cardio and random weight machines. I was always hungry, frustrated with the lack of results and embarrassed of my body.

Recently I've learned more about bodybuilding and dispelled the all too common female myth that I will "bulk up" if I lift too heavy. I've realized that the stereotype we all imagine of a female bodybuilder isnt the norm and you dont have to look like a man to be a bodybuilder.

I've found a new passion in "clean" eating and have started to see the start of some amazing results that came about through a balanced diet and heavy lifting. I try to eat only non-processed foods and hit my macros each day. I'm working towards doing a a figure competition and possibly some fitness modeling.. We'll see what happens =)
